STARK COUNTY DISTRICT LIBRARY PROJECT STUDY
Patron Counting System Upgrade
Stark County District Library has been a customer of SenSource’s for several years. They have ten library locations across Stark County, Ohio as well as two Bookmobiles. Prior to the upgrade, the library system was using a battery-powered, break beam patron counting system to collect patron traffic into their library locations. Manually reporting data from the sensor’s display was inconsistent, over-counts were common, and it was difficult to combine data among locations.
The problems with the outdated break-beam system prompted Joel McKee from the Information Technologies Department at Stark Library to seek out an upgraded patron counting system. Working with Dan and Brendon from SenSource, Joel ultimately chose SenSource’s ClearCount 3D stereo video system with Vea Analytics reporting platform.
Joel expresses his experience stating, “I was impressed with Brendon and his dedication to making sure we got the right product and installation locations fine-tuned. He followed up with answers to our questions and was a pleasure to work with! Great customer Service without the BS!”
“The ClearCount 3D product was rather impressive overall. Centralized reporting and count accuracy were the most attractive elements. Reporting of the sensors in real time has been beneficial to us,” explains Joel.
In addition, Stark Library is seeing benefits from the patron counting system advanced features such as the height filter for viewing adult and child counts separately. This distinction is helpful for certain program reporting. And the advanced configuration settings ensure accurate counts for the varying entrance styles at each library.
“The Product Support Staff have been responsive and helpful with our questions and installation(s) of our wireless counters. Having a person answer the phone is rare these days and so appreciated!”
