Every year SenSource goes through Making Kids Count for their adopt-a-family program during the holiday season but have never actually volunteered their time with the organization. In August, the SenSource team had the opportunity to help Making Kids Count by packaging over 30,000 diapers. One of the many programs offered through Making Kids Count is their Diaper Bank. The Diaper Bank was created to fill an unmet need for diapers for those in need within our community. Programs such as WIC, Food Stamps and Medicare do not cover the cost of diapers, that’s where the team at Making Kids Count steps in. Making Kids Count collects, packages and distributes over 20,000 diapers a month to partner agencies in the Mahoning Valley. Citizens in need from Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana and Ashtabula counties are able to go to these partner agencies and receive a set amount of diapers for their children. The Diaper Bank is just one of many programs offered by Making Kids Count. They strive to build a stronger future through the children of today. From Hope Totes to their summer food program they focus on the well being of the children within our community and try to ensure their health and happiness. SenSource cannot wait to volunteer more time within their organization and looks forward to their adopt-a-family program this holiday season.
