Installation Tips
Installation of any SenSource system should be done using proper safety equiptment and wiring should adhere to your state and local regulations.  Many of our systems are designed to work right out of the box, but few require some minor wiring and configuration.  If any of the following tips is not adequate enough to solve your problem, please call 800-239-1226 and ask to speak to a technical support agent.

PC-Series People Counting Systems:

  1. When mounting any sensor make sure that the correct side of the sensor is facing the reflector.  The side with the LED indicator lights should NOT be facing the reflector. This is a common mistake and is easily fixed.  The smooth black side adjacent to the LED indicators should face the reflectors.
  2. Sensors may not be properly aligned.  When mounting a BX05 Sensor (refer to your manual) you achieve proper alignment when no indicator lights are on when there is no interruption of the beam.
  3. Make sure all wires are securely connected and that your sensors are receiving power.
  4. When extending wire length, 500 ft on most systems is the maximum length guaranteed for operation.  Refer to the wiring diagram in the manual provided with your system for details.

Road Traffic Counting Systems:

  1. When monitoring traffic in one direction, it is best to angle the pressure hose 5 degrees towards the oncoming traffic.  This will allow for a more accurate count.
  2. When monitoring slower moving traffic, adjust the pressure sensor by unscrewing the allen key located on the back of the black pressure sensor.  This will allow for slower and lighter moving vehicles to be counted.
