PCW-SSRX: How To Setup Hyper Terminal

Information
HyperTerminal is a Windows XP (it is not packaged with Vista or 7) component. It is more flexible than the Windows Telnet utility and can be configured for TCP/IP or Serial Communication.

Steps
»   Setup HyperTerminal for TCP/IP Communication
  1. Start Menu >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Communications >> HyperTerminal
  2. Connection Description
    • Enter a name and choose an icon for the connection
      • I.E., SSRX
  3. Connect To
    • Enter details for the host that you want to call
      • Connect Using
        • Select TCP/IP (Winsock)
      • Host Address
        • Default is 192.168.1.55
      • Port Number
        • Default is 1000
  4. TCP/IP Properties
    • File >> Properties >> Settings (Tab) >> ASCII Setup (Button)
  5. ASCII Setup
    • ASCII Sending Check Boxes
      • Send line ends with line feeds
      • Echo typed characters locally
    • ASCII Receiving Check Boxes
      • Append line feeds to incoming line ends
»  Setup HyperTerminal for Serial Communication
  1. Start Menu >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Communications >> HyperTerminal
  2. Connection Description
    • Enter a name and choose an icon for the connection
      • I.E., SSRX
  3. Connect To
    • Enter details for the host that you want to call
      • Connect Using
        • Select the appropriate COM port.
          • E.G., COM1
    • Click Configure
  4. COM1 Properties
    • Bits per second: 19200
    • Data bits: 8
    • Parity: None
    • Stop bits: 1
    • Flow Control: None
  5. ASCII Setup
    • File >> Properties >> Settings (Tab) >> ASCII Setup (Button)
    • ASCII Sending Check Boxes
      • Send line ends with line feeds
      • Echo typed characters locally
    • ASCII Receiving Check Boxes
      • Append line feeds to incoming line ends
»  Entering Commands / Receiving Responses
    Enter Commands in the HyperTerminal Window.
  • Prefix each command with ‹ˆB› by using [CTRL + B]
  • Suffix each command with ‹CR› by using ENTER (key)
    • EX: To find the IP of a device, type [CTRL + R]IP[ENTER]
    Commonly-Used Commands
  • Sensor Add Mode
    • ATU — Turn on Auto-Add
    • AF — Turn off Auto-Add
    • ASU — Service Mode
    • AR — Read Status
  • Sensor Server ID Label
    • CDSlabel — Change Label *
    • CDR— Read Label
  • DHCP
    • CIDR — to Read
    • CIDSF,T — Static IP address, DHCP off
    • CIDST,T — DHCP on
  • Configure Static IP Address
    • CISIPaddress,subnet,gateway,dns,port  *
    • CIR — to Read
